The Czech Office of Surveying and Cadastre is proposing major changes in access to data from the Cadastre. Personal data would now be available only after verification of the applicant’s identity and with a reason. Administrative fees would also increase significantly – some up to 20 times the current amount.
End of free access to personal data in the cadastre via the Internet. According to the draft law, which the authority has just submitted for comments, sensitive information about owners, their rights and property prices would now be made available only after verification of identity – for example, through the Citizen’s Identity – and the legal reason why the person is requesting the data. The aim is to limit the misuse of data and protect the privacy of owners. Cadastral map data without personal information would remain publicly available. Anyone who tries to circumvent the law risks a new fine of up to a million instead of the current 100,000.
Changes are also planned in the area of administrative fees. The amendment will allow the filing of one joint application for several properties that are under the responsibility of different cadastral offices. For some buildings it will be possible to pay up to CZK 20,000. Confirmation of the numbering of parcels is to become five times more expensive – from CZK 100 to CZK 500. The amendment should also make the cadastre administration more efficient and refine the definition of offences. If the proposal passes, ordinary users will have less convenience – but more protection.
