The new minimum hourly wage is CZK 134.40, based on a working week of 40 hours. The increase is based on the model in force from 2024, according to which the minimum wage is based on a prediction of the average wage in the national economy and a predetermined coefficient. The aim is to gradually increase the share of the minimum wage up to 47% of the average wage in 2029.
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, this system brings greater predictability for both employees and employers. The increase in the minimum wage also has an impact on other related institutions, in particular on the levels of guaranteed wages for individual job groups and on certain social benefits, the amount of which is derived from the minimum wage. For employers, the change thus means not only higher wage costs for the lowest earners, but also the need to recalculate related wage and labour law parameters.
