Termination of employment

Both the employer and the employee can terminate the employment relationship by giving notice. It is a unilateral legal act, on the basis of which the employment relationship ends – if the conditions for a valid termination are met – at the expiry of the notice period, regardless of the will of the other party to the employment relationship. However, the employer may only give notice for lawful reasons (e.g. reorganisation, incapacity of the employee, etc.).
